Design Rationale

Chosen Topic
I designed a crochet micro learning experience inspired by how I originally learned through a friend. That experience felt personal in a way most learning apps don’t replicate. I wanted to explore how a digital product could recreate that feeling, where the interface acts less like a formal instructor and more like a friendly guide.

 

Main User Flow
Users begin on the home screen, where they select a lesson. They then move into a scrollable lesson view that introduces the lesson. After engaging with the content, users complete a quiz, presented one at a time to maintain focus. The flow ends with a lesson completion screen, followed by a progress view where users can track their development over time. This structure mirrors how someone might naturally learn from a friend: observe, try, get feedback, and reflect.

Key Design Decisions
The layout emphasizes clarity and hierarchy, with content broken into digestible sections to support microlearning. The scrollable lesson format allows users to move at their own pace, while doing one question at at time minimizes overwhelm and keeps attention focused. Visually, I used clear feedback cues to indicate correct and incorrect responses, reinforcing learning in the moment. Interactive elements were designed to feel responsive and intuitive. For example, hover states on buttons provide immediate visual confirmation of interaction, and smart animate transitions create a smooth, continuous flow between screens.

What I Learned
Mainly, I learned Figma skills through this prototype. Furthermore, I gained a deeper understanding of how small interaction details, such as transitions and hover states, contribute significantly to perceived polish and usability. Most importantly, I learned how to translate my learning experience into a structured digital flow without losing the sense of warmth and support that made it effective in the first place.
